Trainers

Clarks Originals Trainers
One of the reasons why Clarks,
and I'm not referring to
pies, has
remained so popular throughout the years
has to be the fact that Clarks shoes are
just so comfortable. They have a wide
range of styles including the Clarks
Originals brand, a range of up-to-date
styles based on the designs of the past
and all sporting the signature Originals
crepe sole.
There are different types of shoe and
boot in the range including
Clarks originals trainers, desert boots,
sandals and shoes. There is a huge range
to choose from for both males and
females and whether you are looking for
a comfortable pair of flowery hip desert
boots to wear to the local music
festival or a court shoe for the office
that does not kill the feet, then you
are sure to find it.
For women there are feminine desert
boots in flower print, high heel desert
boots, practical flat sandals and
classic courts, trendy and
up-to-the-minute, yet drawing on the
best of the vintage influences.
Men have a choice of desert boots in
over twenty colours – including striped!
– as well as shoes in a range of styles
and colours, all with the trademark
crepe sole and the comfort that is
common to all Clarks shoes.
Check out your local Clarks store or
online to see this amazing range of
shoes and boots to cater for every
taste.
Vintage and Cool
One of the best things about reaching
middle age is that many of the shoes and
clothes designs that were fashionable
when you were young have gone full
circle. Vintage and retro is in and so
you can wear some of the best designs
from your youth and still look on trend!
One example of this is Diadora Heritage
trainers, which I remember from the
seventies. They were cool then and I am
pleased to say that they are still cool
today, with their distinctive design and
timeless look.
Many of the clothes that I used to wear
when I was a teenager have also come
full circle and there is something a
little weird about buying almost exactly
the same clothes for my daughter as I
used to buy for me. It would have been
much cheaper if I had had the foresight
to keep all of my clothes from back
then, rather than forking out anew but
that is life.
The same thing can also be said about
music as I frequently hear bands that I
used to love as a teenager being played
at full volume on the iPod.
My daughter always seems slightly
embarrassed when I start singing along
as I am sure she thinks that this music
from thirty years ago belongs to her
generation.
Stripes Away
Classic, smart and bang on trend, there
is no sports shoe as distinctive and
covetable as Hummel trainers. Although
they have been around for nearly ninety
years, they are as cool and trendy as
they were when they were first designed
and most of the teenagers and adults I
know would give anything to be able to
own one of these design classics.
Hummel trainers must be the pick of the
retro trend with their two tone arrows
and striking colours. Available in
classic trainers or ankle trainers, many
stand out from the crowd in bright
yellows, neon greens or red, white and
blue. With so many colours to choose
from the only problem is working out
which colour to buy.
Made in Germany, they are of premium
quality and yet they do not break the
bank so people of all ages and budgets
can aspire to own a pair – or several
pairs to match your every outfit!
Hummel trainers will never go out of
date which is why they make such a good
investment and a change from the culture
of fashion which dates within a month or
so of buying it. While classed as a
retro or vintage trainer, the designs
are in fact timeless and I can see my
grandchildren one day wearing a pair as
my grandparents may have done all those
years ago.
A Summer Outfit
Well, the tell-tale signs of summer are
starting to appear through the rain
clouds. The odd day of sunshine,
although not enough to plan a barbeque
on; the garden starting to display its
summer plumage; and the evenings drawing
out and becoming lighter every day.
This is often a prompt for many people
to start updating the summer wardrobe
and the first port of call, before they
start buying anything new, is to turn
out their existing summer garb and tidy
their shoes and sandals.
Summer can be an expensive time, what
with new bikinis and shorts to buy, but
if you keep it simple and buy classics
such as white linen trousers and Lacoste
trainers, then you will have a capsule
wardrobe for years to come.
That is the key – rather than going for
lots of up-to-the-minute clothes which
are likely to go out of date by next
year, buy good quality items that will
last you for years and which will never
go out of fashion.
Buying lots of cheap clothes can often
be a false economy as they will date
quickly and often fall apart much
quicker. Good quality is the key, but
even here you can save money by looking
for last season’s summer clothes from
the top brands, which often sell last
year’s fashion at a huge discount.
Getting Fit for Summer
Now that the evenings are drawing out
and we are not faced with total darkness
when we leave work in the evening, many
people’s thoughts turn to toning up and
getting fit for the summer.
After all, this is the season when many
people will be baring their bods in
shorts and bikinis and it is only
natural that some of us want to lose a
pound or two.
There are different types of exercise to
tone up and you have to make a personal
decision on what is right for you. While
some will want to head for the gym,
others will want to get their puma
trainers on and take to the fresh air,
with some outdoor activity such as
walking, running or cycling. So let’s
make the most of the good weather rather
than working out in a sweaty gym!
There are also team sports that you can
take part in to get fit for summer such
as netball and football, although this
does require at least some degree of
skill.
Even better if you live by a lake, river
or the sea, take to the water in a canoe
or kayak so that you can make the most
of the light evenings, fresh air and
enjoy nature at its best. Tone those
arms and get fit for summer!
Family Fun
It has to be said that many children do
not get as much exercise as is good for
them and that is not to say that I am
putting the blame squarely on the
parents’ shoulders.
Many parents have to work long hours to
make ends meet and it is all too easy to
sit the children in front of the
television instead of getting out into
the fresh air and playing with friends.
Even if it is just a case of putting on
your Reebok trainers and going for a
walk with the dog, it is a far healthier
option than stagnating on the couch and
you can tie this in with an appreciation
of nature and understanding about the
environment in which they live.
That is why we should all make the
effort to exercise as a family wherever
possible so that our children understand
the importance of exercise and see it as
a fun thing that can be done with their
parents and siblings.
The key is to make exercise and healthy
living seem a natural and yet vital part
of their everyday lives, so that they do
not see it as a chore, but rather as an
entertaining and interesting way to
spend their time. This will save them
much heartache in later life as they are
likely to be fitter. If your
